‘Historical clerical child abuse victims deserve truth and justice’ – Dillon

Sinn Féin MLA Linda Dillon said today those affected by historical clerical child abuse deserve truth and justice.

The Mid Ulster MLA said:

“Clerical child abuse has had a devastating impact on many people here, and those affected deserve truth and justice.

“I listened this morning to the powerful interview by Sean on the radio, who bravely and honestly spoke about the abuse he suffered and the lifelong impact this has had on him.

“I welcome that the Executive, working alongside other departments, have commissioned research into historical clerical child abuse, which will then make recommendations on the next steps.

“My thoughts remain with all the victims of these horrific ordeals and it is my hope that they get the justice they are entitled to in the time ahead.”
