Sinn Féin spokesperson on Finance, Pearse Doherty TD, has called on government to scrap their plans to increase the price of petrol and diesel once again on the 1st of August.
Speaking in the Dáil today, Teachta Doherty said:
“As workers and families continue to struggle with the high cost of living Tánaiste, your government plan to increase the price of petrol and diesel once again on the 1st of August.
“At a time when every effort should be made to reduce living costs for households, you plan to increase them. Fuel prices remain much higher than they were a few years ago – yet you want to increase them further.
“These price hikes will hit those who have no choice but to use the car to get to and from work – to make their hospital appointment – to leave their children to school.
“We in Sinn Féin are calling on you to see sense, to give workers and families a break, and call off these senseless price hikes which will only make life more expensive for ordinary workers and families. Will you?”
