Gormely condemns Belfast attacks

Sinn Féin Councillor John Gormley has condemned the series of attacks on women in Belfast yesterday evening and has welcomed assurances by the PSNI that increased resources are being urgently put in place in response.

The Botanic Councillor said:

“These horrific attacks were carried out against young women and I condemn them totally and utterly.

“I am relieved to learn that none of the injuries sustained in the attacks are life threatening but what happened will no doubt have been traumatising for the victims and I wish them a speedy recovery.

“I have spoken with the PSNI who have assured me that every effort is being made to arrest the perpetrator as quickly as possible.

“The PSNI has also committed to increasing the resources in the city centre and wider area.

“I am appealing to anyone with any information on what happened to contact the PSNI.

“The perpetrator of these attacks must be brought to justice.  Women must be free to live their lives without fear of such attacks.”
