Sinn Féin MLA Declan Kearney has welcomed the launch of the Good Jobs Consultation and has urged trade unions and workers across the north to participate in the design of future workers’ rights legislation.
The party’s workers’ rights spokesperson said:
“Today, the Minister for the Economy Conor Murphy announced the launch of the Good Jobs
Consultation as he moves ahead with his plans to create well-paid and secure jobs for all workers.
“Trade unions and workers across the north now have the unprecedented opportunity to shape future legislation on workers’ rights and protections, including tackling zero hour contracts, union membership, paternity leave and flexible working conditions.
“The Minister has prioritised a Good Jobs programme as a central part of building a productive, competitive and fair economy, which ensures workers are paid fair wages, guaranteed secure employment and provides workers and their families a good standard of living.
“The Good Jobs Consultation empowers workers by giving them a voice to shape future legislation. I am urging the trade union movement and all workers to take this opportunity to optimise the provision of workers’ rights.”
