Sinn Féin’s Louise O’Reilly has today sharply criticised the record of Fianna Fáil Housing Minister Darragh O’Brien saying the country could not afford five more years of his failure in housing.
Louise O’Reilly said:
“Under Darragh O’Brien’s watch home ownership has completely collapsed among the under 40s.
“House prices are up by €100,000.
“The average rent in Dublin is now more than €2,400 per month. People can’t afford that.
“Young people are emigrating as they see no hope of owning their own home and see no future here.
“We have record numbers of homeless people in Dublin and across the state.
“This is an unmatched record of failure under Darragh O’Brien – can we really afford another five years of this?
“Five more years of Darragh O’Brien would be a disaster for people who want a home of their own.
“He has tried to fool the public in glossily produced social media videos which amount to nothing more than cynical disinformation.
“Darragh O’Brien’s behaviour smacks of utter desperation in the face of a track record of unmitigated failure as Housing Minister.
“We urgently need a complete change of direction to fix the housing crisis. Sinn Féin has the policies and the plans to do this in government.
“At this election, voters face a clear choice. It’s a choice between more of the same failures on housing from Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael, or a vote for change with Sinn Féin.
“To end the housing crisis, people need to vote for Sinn Féin on Friday, 29th November.”
