Sinn Féin MLA Ciara Ferguson has welcomed news that 674 homes in Derry have been given the go-ahead by Derry City and Strabane District Council.
The Foyle MLA said:
“It is fantastic that Derry City and Strabane Council’s Planning Committee have given the go-ahead to build 674 homes in the Waterside.
“This is a huge investment in our community totalling over £100 million, with homes to be built over the coming years.
“Cutting housing waiting lists and ensuring families and individuals have a good-quality home is something which Sinn Féin is committed to delivering in the Executive.
“Just recently, Finance Minister Caoimhe Archibald allocated £64 million to departments to expand wastewater infrastructure and build more homes in the north.
“We will continue to press the British government to fairly fund the Executive which would enable us to build more social and affordable housing.”
