MacManus was speaking at the Irish Skipper Expo at the University of Limerick campus, which brought together industry stakeholders from across Ireland.

Among the exhibitions commended by MacManus were the Killybegs Marine Cluster.

“It was a great pleasure to engage with the Killybegs Marine Cluster, which is a very exciting initiative between industry and the State and is an academic partnership with ATU Letterkenny.”

MacManus also engaged with the Irish Coast Guard who had a presence at the event and thanked them for their ongoing lifesaving work.”

“The Irish Coast Guard are an organisation that are so highly respected across the fishing industry, and indeed Ireland. I was delighted to have the opportunity to engage with them and I would like to commend all of the fulltime staff and many volunteers.”

MacManus concluded, “Events like this are a reminder of just how important our fishing and coastal communities are, and how we must work at a local, national and European level to ensure we have a thriving sector in the future.”   ENDS
