Executive needed to support GP practices – Dillon

Sinn Féin MLA Linda Dillon has said GP practices urgently need an Executive restored now to ensure patients can access vital GP services.

Speaking after the latest GP practice in the north is set to hand back its contract, the party’s health spokesperson said:

“This latest announcement is another blow to patients, with over 8,000 patients in the Larne area now facing uncertainty around access to vital GP services.

“This has become a recurring theme across the north with practices struggling to survive due to inadequate financial support and staffing issues.

“This is one of a number of growing priorities for a new Executive to deal with to support patients, staff and GP practices alike.

“It is now decision time for the DUP.

“The only decision they should take is to end their blockade of the Executive and Assembly now.

“It’s time to form an Executive and begin to invest in our health and social care system.”
