Executive needed to invest in rail network and improve connectivity – Boylan

Sinn Féin MLA and the party’s transport spokesperson Cathal Boylan has welcomed findings from a council commissioned study which declares the reopening of the Portadown and Armagh rail link as ‘operationally feasible’.

The Newry and Armagh MLA said:

“This recent study demonstrates the many benefits reinstating the Portadown to Armagh rail link would bring to the area. It would improve connectivity, create greater access for jobs and opportunities, help to tackle the climate emergency and enhance economic development for the wider area.

“This report acknowledges what campaigners have said for years; this rail link would be a game changer for the region.

“In addition to this study, the All-Island Strategic Rail Review also recommended reopening this line.

“We need an Executive restored now and parties working together to invest in our rail network and improve connectivity across our island.”
