Executive needed to deliver new mental health strategies – Flynn

Sinn Féin MLA Órlaithí Flynn has said an Executive is needed now to support people dealing with depression, addiction and other mental health issues.

Speaking ahead of today’s All Party Group meeting on addiction and mental health issues, the party’s mental health spokesperson said:

“The mental health crisis in the north continues to grow. We are seeing increasing numbers of people waiting on mental health support and also more people losing their lives as a result of alcohol and drug issues.

“One party’s boycott of the Assembly is preventing us from supporting those struggling with mental health and addiction issues.

“We need an Executive formed now and parties working together to deliver the new mental health and substance use strategies.

“Those struggling with mental health and addiciton issues on a daily basis cannot wait. They are crying out for political leadership and need help now.”
