‘Executive needed to deliver affordable childcare for families’ – Hargey

Sinn Féin MLA Deirdre Hargey has said an Executive is needed to deliver affordable childcare for families.

The party’s communities spokesperson said:

“The rising cost of childcare is completely unaffordable for many workers and families and is creating a barrier for parents going to work or advancing a career.

“Workers and families are already facing huge pressure with rising living costs, in addition to childcare costs, with reports of some families paying more than £550 per month.

“We need to see urgent progress on delivering affordable, accessible and quality childcare that gives families a fair deal.

“Parents and children cannot wait. Childcare providers cannot wait. We need the Assembly restored without delay and all parties working together to prioritise cutting childcare costs for families.”
