“EU Must Commit to UNRWA and the delivery of humanitarian aid to GAZA” – MacManus

Sinn Féin MEP Chris MacManus has said that the EU must commit to the delivery of humanitarian aid and continue its support for UNRWA, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees.

Speaking from Brussels MacManus said:

“The news that the countries like US, Britain, Germany and Italy are to suspend funding to UNRWA is shameful and unconscionable. The people of Gaza are in the midst of a humanitarian crisis unparalleled to anything we have seen this century.”

“As a member of the European Parliament Delegation for Relations with Palestine, I believe it is incumbent upon the EU to step up and commit itself to UNRWA and indeed increase its delivery of aid to the people of Gaza.” ENDS
