Ennis welcomes BBC decision to show Ulster Championship games

Sinn Féin Culture, Arts and Sports spokesperson Sinéad Ennis MLA has today welcomed the news that the BBC will show six live Ulster championship games in the next year.

The South Down MLA said:

“News that the BBC have increased their live coverage of the Ulster senior football championship is positive and comes on the back of a significant campaign undertaken by GAA members and supporters as well as a broader BBC audience and license fee payers.

“As we enter into more uncertain times, many people will turn to sport broadcasts as a positive and safe alternative to attending games themselves.

“The live broadcast of these games will be welcomed by GAA fans across Ulster and Ireland.

“My party colleagues and I have continually raised the issue of live GAA coverage by the BBC and it is great to see that they have taken this onboard.

“We look forward to another successful  Ulster championship shown on the BBC.”

Teachers deserve a fair pay deal that reflects their incredible work and commitment to our young people.

@ChrisHazzardSF joined with a delegation of teachers from the North to hand in a letter to the British Prime Minister calling for an immediate pay deal for workers.

Education workers deserve fair pay & working conditions.

With one party’s boycott of the Executive ongoing, the British Govt must urgently bring forward a pay deal for workers here.

We need an Executive restored now, & all parties working together to support workers & services.

In any other walk of life the person presiding over such a colossal failure would be sacked. The Minister for Justice is clearly not the person to restore people's confidence in public safety and she should resign.
