Down GAA centre investment ‘hugely positive news for gaels across South Down’

Sinn Féin MP Chris Hazzard has welcomed the announcement of over €15 million for the development of a Down GAA ‘Centre of Excellence’ at Ballykinlar.

The South Down MP said:

“I welcome the announcement that over €15 million has been awarded for the development of a Down GAA Centre of Excellence.

“This is a significant allocation of funding from the EU and represents their ongoing commitment to our local communities and peace building here.”

“Sinn Féin has been supportive of this project for many years and have actively pushed for funding to be awarded to Down GAA.

“The development will include 4 GAA pitches, a spectator stand, fitness suite, indoor games area and facilities for the community to benefit from.

“This is hugely positive news for gaels across South Down and will help to inspire a new generation of young athletes.

“I look forward to seeing this game-changing project delivered and the local GAA community enjoying these fantastic new facilities.”
