Sinn Féin spokesperson on Finance, Pearse Doherty, has accused Minister for Public Expenditure, Pashcal Donohue, and Fine Gael of resorting to barefaced lies in its latest election advertisement.
Pearse Doherty said:
“Paschal Donohoe is telling bare faced lies with the latest pathetic Fine Gael election ad.
“The contents of this advertisement are complete and deliberate lies from a party that can’t stand over its own record of a massive waste of taxpayers’ money.
“Sinn Féin’s manifesto is very clear. We will not spend the €16bn in the funds and indeed will add to the funds growing then to €31bn over next five years.
“The reality is that Fine Gael are under pressure in this election campaign and are now resorting to scare tactics and barefaced lies.
“Fine Gael knows that Sinn Féin’s message on housing and cost of living are resonating with the public.
“Sinn Féin plans will generate a surplus of €15bn.
“This will bring the public’s savings funds to a total of €31bn by 2030.
”We know the best way to secure our future is to invest in the here and now.
“Sinn Féin will invest the public money wisely.
“Meanwhile we have seen Fine Gael in government incinerating the public’s money.
“Under Fine Gael the public have watched aghast at revelations around;
- €336,000 spent on a bike shed
- €500,000 on private jets for Simon Harris
- €1.4m spent on a security hut
- €9m spent on phone pouches
- A €1.5bn overspend on the Children’s Hospital
”Sinn Féin will stop the disgraceful waste of public money seen under Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil.”
