Conclusion of school meals and uniform grant eligibility review ‘long overdue’ – Sheehan

Sinn Féin MLA Pat Sheehan has said it is long past time the review of thresholds for free school meals and uniform grant eligibility was concluded by the Education Minister.

The West Belfast MLA said:

“There are many hard-pressed working families who earn just slightly above the income thresholds meaning they miss out on much-needed help with school meals and school uniforms for their children.

“In 2021 the then Education Minister said that a review of these thresholds was underway and would be concluded in April 2022.

“Over two years later, it’s long past time that this work was finished with proposals put on the table.

“Sinn Féin will continue to work with others in making the case for greater support for low income families.”
