Clarity around SUSI funding for part time courses welcome – Mairéad Farrell TD

Sinn Féin spokesperson on Further and Higher Education, Mairéad Farrell, has welcomed the confirmation from SUSI that funding will now be made available for part time courses for the academic year 2024/25.

It has been confirmed by SUSI that 62 courses have been approved for some level of funding and applications are now open through SUSI.ie.

Teachta Farrell stated:

“I am glad to hear that applications are now open, as I had dealt with some students who had been awarded places on courses but were concerned there was no facility to apply for grant funding through SUSI’s website.

“These students were concerned that if there was any delay then they might not have been able to pursue their courses.

“It’s now been confirmed that 62 different courses will qualify for funding under the changes to the grant system. The value of the grant will depend on the number of credits (European Credit Transfer System) undertaken as part of the course.

“So, students and parents should check SUSI’s website to ensure that their respective courses is covered. This can be done at www.SUSI.ie.”
