Tagann sé seo sna sála ar na 10 dTosaíochtaí uilíocha chun tacú le healaíontóirí agus ealaíon na hÉireann a d’fhoilsithe Sinn Féin níos luaithe sa tseachtain tar éis Dáil Ealaíon bríomhar ina ghlac breis is 100 ionadaí páirt as gach chearn de na healaíona chun plé a dhéanamh faoi cad a theastaíonn chun go n-éireoidh leis an earnáil.

Dúirt an Teachta Ó Snodaigh:

Cuimsíonn na hamharc-ealaíona péinteáil, líníocht, dealbhóireacht, grianghrafadóireacht, déantús priontaí agus léaráid, chomh maith le dearadh grafach agus ailtireacht. Tá amharcealaíontacht lárnach i gcruthú ealaíne closamhairc agus físe, beochana, cluiche, taispeántais, greannána, faisin agus teicstíl, gruagaireachta, smidithe agus coirp, dearadh tionsclaíochta agus táirge, maisiú intí agus garraíodóireacht, tógáil agus fógraíocht.

“Chruthódh muid tuilleadh spás don obair amharc-ealaíon, ar nós trí Bhille um Múrphictiúir Ealaíne Eoin Ó Broin a achtú agus féachaint ar bhunriachtanais ealaíon a thabhairt isteach don ríocht phoiblí, fad is atáimid ag seachadadh leagan Ealaíon den Deontas Caipitil Spóirt.

“Thabharfadh muid faoi athbhreithniú ar an gCéatadáin don Ealaíon agus threiseodh muid an ceart athdhíolta do saothair ealaíon chun a chinntiú go bhfuil amharc-ealaíontóirí in ann slí beatha a bhaint amach agus bia a chur ar an mbord.

“Bheadh Éire lárnaithe ag rialtas Shinn Féin i gcampa na dtír atá ag lorg go dtabharfar ar ais oidhreacht ealaíonta, trí riachtanas a chur ar iarsmalanna agus dánlanna comhoibriú le hiarratais ó stáit eile ealaín agus iarsmaí a aisdúichiú, agus dualgas a chur ar ár n-Aire Cultúir oidhreacht goidte nó tógtha gan cóir ó Éirinn a lorg ar ais ó institiúidí agus rialtais iasachta.

“Déantar neamhaird go rómhinic ar cheird agus dearadh sna hamharc-ealaíona in ainneoin cé chomh fréamhaithe is atá siad i gcultúr na hÉirinn agus go gcruthaíonn siad aschur suntasach eacnamaíoch a thacaíonn le poist agus gnónna dúchasacha. Chuirfeadh muid straitéis ar leith agus margadh náisiúnta ar fáil do cheird na hÉireann agus d’oibreodh muid i dtreo Ionad Dearadh Uile-Éireann.

“D’aithneodh Rialtas Shinn Féin an dearadh faisin mar fhoirm ealaíne, ag cinntiú rochtain ar mhaoiniú agus tacaíochtaí forbartha ón gComhairle Ealaíon, agus chuirfeadh muid an ailtireacht chun tosaigh, go háirithe inár bplean cuimsitheach tithíochta.

“Fiafraím ar ealaíontóirí, ceardaithe, dearthóirí agus lucht féachana na sonraí a léamh ar ár gcur chuige molta agus a gcuid tuairimí a roinnt linn. Is é seo an doiciméad deiridh as cúig á bhfoilsiú ag Sinn Féin chun ár dtosaíochtaí ealaíon a chur in iúl.”

Sinn Féin launch 10 Priorities for the Visual Arts, Crafts and Design – Aengus Ó Snodaigh TD

Sinn Féin spokesperson on Gaeilge, Gaeltacht, Arts, Culture, Tourism and Media, Aengus Ó Snodaigh TD, has today launched Cruthú – Sinn Féin’s 10 Priorities for the Visual Arts, Crafts and Design.

This builds on the 10 overarching priorities for supporting Irish artists and arts which Sinn Féin published last this week following a vibrant Dáil Ealaíon Arts Assembly at which more than 100 representatives from across the arts discussed what is needed for the sector to thrive.

Teachta Ó Snodaigh said:

“The visual arts range from painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, printmaking and illustration to graphic design and architecture. Visual artistry is central to the creation of audiovisual art and film, animation, games, spectacle, comics, fashion and textile art, hair styling, make-up and body art, industrial and product design, interior decoration and gardening, construction, and advertising.

“We would make more space available for visual art work, including by passing Eoin Ó Broin’s Public Art Mural Bill and by examining the introduction of minimum art requirements for the public realm, while also delivering an Arts equivalent to the Sports Capital Grant.

“We would also review the per cent for the arts scheme and strengthen the resale rights for art works to help ensure visual artists are better placed to make a living and put food on the table.

“Sinn Féin would place Ireland firmly within the camp of nations seeking restoration of artistic heritage taken due to heritage, by requiring our state-funded museums and galleries to cooperate with requests from other states for the repatriation of art and artefacts, and obliging our Culture Minister to demand that foreign institutions and governments return heritage stolen or unjustly taken from Ireland.

“The crafts and design side of the visual arts is too often overlooked despite being deeply rooted in Irish culture and responsible for significant economic output, sustaining jobs and indigenous businesses. We would deliver a dedicated strategy and national market for Ireland’s crafts as well as working towards an All Ireland Design Centre.

“A Sinn Féin Government would also recognise fashion design as an art form, ensuring access to funding and development supports from the Arts Council, and would champion architecture, most notably as part of our comprehensive housing plan.

“I invite artists, craftworkers, designers and audiences to read the detail of our proposed approach and let us know what they think. This is the last of five documents being published which set out Sinn Féin’s priorities for the arts.”
