Sinn Féin President Mary Lou McDonald has today launched the party’s manifesto for the upcoming local election.
The document outlines how a strong team of Sinn Féin councillors will work hard to deliver the change that is needed. This will include working to deliver social and affordable housing, making streets safer and delivering better quality services and amenities.
Speaking as she launched the manifesto in Monaghan this morning, Teachta McDonald said:
“Change starts here with the local elections. 7th June will be the most important Local and European Elections for a generation.
“People will have the opportunity to vote on the change they want to see. A vote for Sinn Féin is a vote for change. These elections are the first step to getting this disastrous government out of office.
“Local Councils will be crucial to delivering affordable homes for workers and families under a Sinn Féin led government. That is why a vote for Sinn Féin in the local elections is a vote to start fixing the housing crisis.
“It’s a vote for better quality local services and amenities. For better maintenance of our roads and making our streets safer.
“Sinn Féin’s commitment to you is that we will make sure your voice is heard at local level. By voting for Sinn Féin councillors, you are voting for hard workers who will work tirelessly to deliver for you and your family on the issues that matter.
“We’re running 335 candidates across the state- the most we’ve ever run. Sinn Féin candidates are running in every single LEA. That means that for the first time ever, each and every voter has an opportunity to vote for change at the ballot box.
“The size of the team that we’re running reflects the ambition that we have for this country and our determination to deliver the change that is needed.
“My message to voters is clear- if you want change, you have to vote for it. Change starts here and it starts with the local election.”
