Cathy Gormley-Heenan to chair ‘Irish Unity and the All Island Economy’ event

Cathy Gormley-Heenan has been announced as the independent chairperson of the Commission on the Future of Ireland’s upcoming event ‘Irish Unity and the All Island Economy’.

The event, which will take place on Friday 28th June, 11am – 1pm, in the Europa Hotel, Belfast is being hosted by Sinn Féin’s Commission on the Future of Ireland.

The Commission was established by Sinn Féin in 2022 to encourage discussion about constitutional change. This will be the 16th event hosted by the Commission and it is open to all, registration is via the following link Tickets-irish-unity-and-the-all-island-economy

The panel for the event will be comprised of Sinn Féin’s senior finance spokespeople – Caoimhe Archibald MLA, Conor Murphy MLA and Pearse Doherty TD.

Pearse Doherty said;

“I am delighted that Cathy will play a pivotal role in the upcoming Commission event ‘Irish Unity and the All Island Economy’.

“This will be the 16th event in the Commission series and each event has been steered by an independent chairperson.  The aim of the Commission is to provide the space for people to discuss the potential for constitutional change.  All points of view are welcome and having a chairperson of the calibre of Cathy Gormley-Heenan will ensure that a vibrant and exciting discussion is guaranteed.”

Cathy Gormley-Heenan said:

“I am very much looking forward to this event on 28th June.  The economic and fiscal environment on the island of Ireland was something that formed part of our deliberations in the Independent Fiscal Commission for N. Ireland and remains a key interest of mine. Discussions on the future are growing ever more prevalent and I’m delighted to be able to chair another event which explores what the economic future might look like.

“I would encourage people to come along to the Europa Hotel to take part in what is sure to be a wide-ranging discussion.”
