Canavan condemns robbery of West Belfast shop

Sinn Féin Councillor Claire Canavan has condemned the robbery of a shop in Cavendish Street, West Belfast.

Speaking the Court DEA Councillor said:

“The robbing of a local shop in Cavendish Street on Sunday evening was absolutely reprehensible.

“It is particularly concerning that the perpetrator threatened the employee with a used syringe.

“Our corner shops have been central to supporting the local community throughout the pandemic giving residents easy access to food and essentials.

“I want to offer my support to the employees in the shop and in particular those working there at the time.

“I am appealing for anyone with information to bring it forward to the PSNI.”
