Archibald welcomes £12 million social housing approval

Sinn Féin MLA Caoimhe Archibald has welcomed planning approval for a £12 million social housing scheme to be built the outskirts of Portstewart.

The East Derry MLA said:

“I welcome the move by the Causeway Coast and Glens Council planning committee to grant planning for this social housing scheme funded by the Housing Executive and Radius Housing.

“Given the levels of housing stress in the north coast area this development which consists of 67 houses and 20 apartments for social housing with some to be sold off as affordable homes for low-income families will be very much welcomed in the area.

“With the housing crisis only deepening, this will offer some hope to those on waiting lists but more still needs to be done to address housing inadequacies.”
