Affordable childcare can address growing levels of child poverty – Mason

Sinn Féin MLA Cathy Mason has said delivering quality and affordable childcare can help address the growing levels of child poverty.

Reacting to the Comptroller & Auditor General’s report on child poverty, the party’s childcare spokesperson said:

“This report has again reinforced the need to tackle the growing levels of child poverty in the north.

“Cutting childcare costs and delivering high quality, affordable services can play an important role in addressing child poverty. This would help ordinary workers and families and support children to have the best start in life.

“Working together with other parties, the communities and education ministers must work to support families by implementing the new anti-poverty strategy and delivering high quality, affordable childcare.”
