‘£45 million regional balance funding will help to build a fairer economy’ – Delargy

Sinn Féin MLA Pádraig Delargy has welcomed the economy minister’s allocation of £45 million to drive regional balance across the north.

The Foyle MLA said:

“Economy Minister Conor Murphy has prioritised regional balance since he took up office, wanting to drive equal opportunity, investment, and more jobs in every city and town throughout the north.

“The £45 million announced by the minister is another positive step forward, supporting local councils to drive transformative change with a strong focus on grassroots-led, economic growth across all communities.

“The intent behind this Regional Balance Fund is to stimulate jobs in places like Derry which had in the past been neglected in terms of investment.

“This is a step change in economic direction and one which will help to build a fairer economy, create more jobs, boost tourism and support businesses to operate locally.  The prospect of over £5 million coming directly to Derry will be welcomed by many businesses through the fund.

“We have exciting opportunities ahead, and by working together we can seize on our enormous economic potential and ensure everyone, no matter where they live, has a fair chance in life.”
