Carál Ní Chuilín MLA (North Belfast)

Carál Ní Chuilin was first elected as an MLA in 2007, and has a strong track record representing the citizens of North Belfast.  A former political prisoner, Carál is a relentless campaigner for her constituents.

As Minister for Culture, Arts and Leisure, Carál initiated major sporting infrastructure investment across the North, including GAA, soccer and rugby.

In 2020 as acting Department for Communities Minister, Carál was privileged to launch the most radical reform of public housing in 50 years.

Currently a member of the Assembly Health Committee, Carál is a formidable champion for equality in health, housing and regeneration.

Carál is passionate about delivering jobs and investment in North Belfast, the promotion of the Irish language and the achievement of Irish unity.  She has also been a strong supporter of marriage equality, LGBT rights, and women’s and workers’ rights.
