Sinn Féin President Mary Lou McDonald extends sympathy on the death of Tommie Gorman

Sinn Féin President Mary Lou McDonald TD has extended her sympathy on the death of former RTÉ journalist Tommie Gorman.

Teachta McDonald said:

“I am deeply saddened to learn of the death of Tommie Gorman today.

“Tommie had an unparalleled journalistic career, from humble beginnings at the Western People newspaper, to serving as Northern Editor of RTÉ. He conducted some of the most legendary interviews to have appeared on Irish television, and while he was a tough interviewer, he was always fair.

“He reported on some of the most pivotal and vital moments of the peace process, and did so with passion and integrity and made an invaluable contribution.

“Most importantly, he was an absolute gentleman, and his friendship will be fondly missed by many today.

“On behalf of Sinn Féin, I want to extend my very deepest sympathies to Tommie’s wife Ceara, and their children Joe and Moya, and to his former colleagues in RTÉ.

“Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.”
