‘Welcome news that 2300 new properties can be connected to wastewater infrastructure’ – Ferguson

Sinn Féin MLA Ciara Ferguson has welcomed news that 2300 new properties can be connected to wastewater infrastructure over the coming years.

The party’s housing spokesperson was speaking following this announcement, which is a result of Infrastructure Minister John O’Dowd’s recent £19.5 million allocation to NI Water.

Ciara Ferguson said:

“Expanding our wastewater infrastructure and building more homes is a priority for the Executive, and news that NI Water will now have capacity for 2,300 new properties over the current period to 2027 is welcome news.

“This follows an allocation of £19.5 million to NI Water by Infrastructure Minister John O’Dowd following the October monitoring round.

“The increased capacity will mean new connections to developments will span across five councils in Antrim, Derry and Tyrone.

“Sinn Féin will continue to press the British government for fairer funding to enable us to invest in our public services including developing our wastewater infrastructure further.”
