The momentum for change is behind Sinn Féin – Mary Lou McDonald

Sinn Féin leader Mary Lou McDonald has said “the momentum for change is behind Sinn Féin” as she called on people to come out tomorrow to vote for a new government that will put workers, families, and communities first.

She asked those who have yet to support her party but want Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael out of government to lend their vote to Sinn Féin in this election.

Ms McDonald also made an impassioned appeal to young people to seize the future they deserve by voting for Sinn Féin in their droves tomorrow.

Mary Lou McDonald said:

“Tomorrow’s election is the General Election of a lifetime. It’s a historic opportunity for people to vote for a Sinn Féin led government of change. The momentum for change is behind Sinn Féin. We’ve never been closer. It’s now over to the people.

“Tá rith an rása le Sinn Féin don athrú. Is féidir linn an toghcháin seo a bhuachaint. Is féidir rialtas nua a bhaint amach don chosmhuintir agus todhchaí níos fearr a thógáil do gach duine.

“This is a chance to elect a new government that is firmly on the side of workers, families and communities. That means a government that is approachable and available. It means a government that will bring the voices of ordinary people into the corridors of power where they belong.

“The choice is clear. More of the same under another Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael government is not going to achieve the Ireland our people deserve. One hundred years of different versions of the same government is long enough.

“I would say to those who want Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil out of government: You don’t have to be traditional Sinn Féin voters but in this election if you want change, if you want these parties out of government lend your vote to Sinn Féin. Give Sinn Féin a chance to show that we can deliver for you, for your family and for your community.

“I’m also calling on young people to come out in your droves to vote for Sinn Féin. I’m asking you to talk to your friends and families, encouraging them to do the same. This can be the election where our young people claim the future you deserve with a government that has your backs. A future full of opportunity. A future where you can build a good and prosperous life at home in Ireland.

“So, to parents, grandparents, uncles and aunts, I’m asking you too to vote for a better future for the young people that you love. A Sinn Féin led government will be the government our young people need. We will work morning, noon and night to deliver for them.

“It’s time to turn the page and begin a new era of hope, ambition and delivery. This election presents voters with the last chance for five years to fix the housing crisis. That can only happen with a Sinn Féin led government. That can only happen through the implementation of our groundbreaking housing plan.

“We are ready from day one in government to move heaven and earth to make life better for ordinary people. We now ask voters to give us our chance to lead. Give us the chance to deliver for you, your family, and community. We will not let you down.

“The momentum for change is building behind Sinn Féin. We can make history tomorrow. Sinn Féin can win this election. If you believe that a better, fairer, more equal Ireland is possible, if you believe in a better future for all, then this is your moment. This is your time.

“If you want change you have to come out and vote for it. I’m asking you to vote with hope, vote with optimism, vote for an Ireland where everyone has the opportunity to aspire, to succeed, to have a secure and happy life. An Ireland where no one is left behind. Vote for a new government that truly has your back. Vote for Sinn Féin.”
