John O’Dowd is originally from the parish of Tullylish, he is married with three young children. A former Minister of Education he has held several high profile posts in his 25 years as an elected representative and is currently Sinn Fein’s Assembly Chief Whip.
He has a record of delivery, including new school builds and youth facilities across Upper Bann. He continues to have a strong interest in education sitting on the Board of Governors of a large Post Primary school.
John has been to the fore front in supporting workers and families by helping to sustain and create new jobs. He has a vision for Upper Bann as a thriving economic hub with good jobs, situated as it is on the main road and rail networks on the island of Ireland including access to the ports serving Britain and Europe. John has the abilities needed to deliver prosperity and peace for all the people of Upper Bann.
