Baker welcomes intention to reinstate Book Start Baby Programme

Sinn Féin MLA Danny Baker has welcomed the Education Minister’s intention to reinstate the Book Start Baby Scheme.

The party’s children and young people spokesperson said:

“It’s fantastic news that the Education Minister has stated he will reinstate the Book Start Baby programme.

“This scheme supported thousands of ordinary children and families with books and reading support, and was stripped away last year due to savage Tory cuts.

“We must do all we can to give our children the best upbringing and to support the development of their language, communication and social skills.”
